Are Chanel Products Worth the Splurge?

For some of you (alright, some of us), the gorgeous Chanel packaging is reason alone to spend more than $50 on a powder compact. But some of us (fine, fine, you) need a little more than that to make these chic products splurge-worthy.

Which of course begs the question, are Chanel products worth their hefty price tags? We asked TotalBeauty.com readers and got an almost resounding yes. Check out the products they loved below and click here to see which Chanel product is most definitely not worth your cash.

The Best: No. 12: Chanel Exceptionnel De Chanel Intense Volume and Curl Mascara, $35
TotalBeauty.com average member rating: 8.6 (out of 10)
Why: Readers praise this mascara because it "is silky smooth and does not clump, which makes it easy to layer" and "it does not ... splatter, flake, or irritate my contact lens-wearing eyes." One reader adds, "I have pretty short lashes but this lengthened them like no other! Even though it's a little pricey, for me it's really worth it!"

No. 11: Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush, $40
TotalBeauty.com average member rating: 9
Why:
Readers love that this blush is "super soft, pigmented and long lasting." "This powder is silky enough that it doesn't go anywhere else except where you apply it," one reader says. Others like that this "gives my cheeks a great natural color ... [it] goes on smooth for a great silky look that doesn't clump or look chalky."

No. 10: Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Eau De Parfum, $80
TotalBeauty.com average member rating: 9
Why:
"Sex in a bottle" and "sexy" are common terms associated with this citrus-y, floral scent. "Too often perfumes that claim to be sophisticated are overpowering and overstated. This scent is anything but. It's sexy, refined, and very seductive," a reader says. Another adds, "Not only does it last days, yes days, on you, it also catches the attention of everyone, male and female around. Well worth every penny!"

No. 9: Chanel No. 5 Eau de Parfum Spray, $80
TotalBeauty.com average member rating: 9.3
Why:
"Men always comment when I wear this scent," readers say. "I just can't find another fragrance that has the same sexiness to it," a reader says. Other readers shares a story about the seductive past of the scent, "Marilyn Monroe supposedly started a craze for No.5 when she said that it was the only thing she slept in; it seems now that people think of it as something tacky -- wrong; contrary to its image, it's as fresh as powder, the way a classy male would want his lover to smell like, in bed or out."

No. 8: Chanel No.5 Eau de Toilette Spray, $65
TotalBeauty.com average member rating: 9.3
Why:
"A classic beauty, worth its scent in gold," says a reader of the classic Chanel scent. "I have been using this perfume many years now and it is a scent I have never grown tired of. It is fresh and spicy and I love it," another says. One women proves her loyalty to the scent over the years by explaining, "this is still one of my all-time favorites. Enjoyed it more when it only cost $18 though!"

No. 7: Chanel Collection Essentielle de Chanel Multi-Use Make-Up Palette, $85
TotalBeauty.com average member rating: 9.4
Why:
The reason readers love this multi-use product: "the colors all coordinate beautifully and this palette comes with a soft storage pouch that also includes blush and lip brushes and an eye shadow applicator, so it's great for purse or travel." And though readers admit that it is expensive, they argue "after all it is Chanel and the consistency and application is flawless!"

No. 6: Chanel Chance Parfum, $95
TotalBeauty.com average member rating: 9.5
Why:
"This is my favorite Chanel parfum," claim readers. "I love the sensual feeling it gives me," says one reader. "I love its sweet yet, gentle fragrance. It reminds me of flowy flowery dresses and spring," says another. One reader sums it up: "Every time I wear it I get compliments left and right, both from females and males, old and young. It is quite timeless."

Honestly, I really was not impressed with Chanel products. I've used the face powder, blush and mascara and didn't think they were anything special...check out my go-to products at
