Is it OK to BlackBerry at dinner?
editor
It's becoming more and more common to see two people eating dinner while one has a deep conversation with their BlackBerry.
Many feel that e-mailing during a social dinner is fine (what if an emergent work snafu arises or your aunt can't find the TV switcher?) while others wouldn't consider letting that puppy touch the table.
In my opinion, there's nothing Zen about a BlackBerry next to the salt and pepper. There will always be obligations or unreturned e-mail, but should that interrupt your precious dinner time? I don't think so.
What do you think? Is it OK to use your BlackBerry during dinner?

I think it's very rude to use the Blackberry or text/email during dinner, or any activilty where 2 people are supposed to interacting in a social setting. My sister texts constantly while we're together; dinner/lunch, walking for exercise, etc... These are not crucial messages, these are flirts and "junk" messages. Nothing life treatening or very important. It makes me annoyed and I feel ignored and unimportant. Doesn't matter that she can "talk and text".. someone is getting ignored in these types of situations and it's always the person right there in the flesh.

It's ultimately up to the person you're eating with whether or not it's ok, personally I find it very rude.

What a douchebag this guy is!!!!! That guy looks like such a loser for blackberrying at a meal. Looks like he's drinking some lame beer like "Bud Lime" too. The real question is why you would even have dinner with a*** like this dude.

Are you on-call, waiting for a message from your boss, or expecting updates on a bad situation...NO? I prefer you turn it off.
