Angelina may want to enter politics

Wenn

Wenn

Angelina Jolie is at the top of her game. She is gorgeous, stylish, rakes in millions of dollars as a successful actress, snagged the most desirable man in Hollywood even though he was married, is a humanitarian and a Goodwill Ambassador, and, according to Forbes, is the most powerful celebrity in the world. We don't know if we should be amused or scared about this new information: Angie is thinking of entering politics. "Ange has admitted she's getting bored with Hollywood. She said she's now got her sights set on Washington," says a friend. "She is passionate about people's rights, war and justice and thinks she can get more hands-on and make even more of a difference by getting into politics. She admires Obama and thinks she could make a big difference too if she were in his position."

Hold on. Would Angelina really run for office? “I would place a huge wager on her becoming the first female president in the next 20 years," the friend says. "When Ange sets her mind on something, she goes all out to do it. She is well respected for her humanitarian work and I’m sure she would make as many waves if she moved fully into the political world.”

She can handle the big screen, but could she run the White House? Would you vote for Angelina if she got into politics? [Daily Express]

Politics life should not be an alternative to boredom. I am deeply concerned about the "hollywoodization" of American, where celebs seem to be more and more often, injecting themselves in activities due to their status vs. their qualifications. Yes, many of them are truly committed to social activism/justice/advocacy causes they (and their money) are attempting to improve, but it doesn't mean they are qualified to run governments - hello, bankrupt California anyone?

As for Ms. Jolie...I don't care if she is gorgeous, stylish, rakes in millions and snagged the most eligible (married) man in Hollywood (not in my mind, btw)...none of those qualify her for office. And her "I'm bored with Hollywood" comment, coupled with the fact that she doesn't even live in the US, reduce any credibility she may have developed in her humanitarian efforts.

Show some substance first...or is it just another acting role she wants to snag?

I love how despite all of the things that are now credited to this woman, part of this would still read, "snagged the most desirable man in Hollywood even though he was married" -

    It is tacky, and unnecessary.

If I am in a marriage (which I am) and I wind up in a relationship outside of, either during or subsequent to, said marriage, it is indicative of issues with my marriage – obviously the ‘most desirable man in Hollywood’ concluded he wished for things for his life that his then present situation wasn’t fulfilling, however the whole thing really happened – we don’t know.

Why, why, why, do we have to hear (this in my Mr. Bill voice,) “…and UNHCR announces that Angelina Jolie and partner Brad Pitt, who was still married when they began their relationship in 2,000-whatever, have donated 1 million dollars to the plight of refugees…” ANY LONGER?!?!

Joanna Douglas, I genuinely usually love your blogs and will continue to read them – but the little jousts about how homeboy was married, yadayada, just need to go away - especially in comments tied to her activism and humanitarian work, c'mon.

To answer the question, yes I would vote for her - if she stood where I stood on the issues that are important to myself and my family.

she is scummy...seriously...I love that she does great charity work but there is where it ends for me...Her last two boyfriends/husband...were engaged or married...you know her vampy a** went after them...they she wore his blood on her neck...french kissed her brother...and never appears to have any woman friends...woman who don't have woman friends...no no no...they are not trustworthy woman...because other woman pick up on it...she is a home wrecker who wears blood and makes out with her brother...maybe in some backwards podunk town she could be major where incest is best in their area...she is really disgusting...

I'm not sure, I'd have to watch and see like I did with Obama.

All of you TRASHING Angelina were PROBABLY ready to put Sarah Palin's dumb ass in there, so what's the difference?!

I think SHE would do a good job, she seems to be smarter and through the right channels, could acquire her "qualifications" so I'd vote for her!

Just because you're smart enough to get paid millions to "play pretend" doesn't mean your intelligent enough to run our country. I've never seen anything impressive out of her - why is everyone so in love with her?
