Solo In The City For July 4th
user
I know this note comes to you on short notice but I am
seriously dreading July 4th weekend. Most of my friends will be
traveling and somehow it looks as though I will be stuck in the
city, solo. Normally, I love being alone on long weekends but for
some reason this year I am struggling with the thought of it. I am
hoping you can help me out on this one!

My immediate response to you is “Why is this year different than
any every other year? Yes, I may have borrowed the question from
the Passover holiday but it is an important one for you to
consider. A personal/professional loss, or some sort of shift in
your social world, may be troubling you more than the thought of
being alone. I encourage you to dig a little deeper and figure out
what is stirring up emotions which are atypical for you.
For many single people the struggle is not so much about being
alone as it is about feeling left behind or excluded. And that’s
when having a plan or a special project will be helpful. Once you
build your own list of things to do, your outlook will shift
entirely because your focus will not be on everyone else’s
whereabouts and doings, it will only be on
you.
If ever there was a year when people were “staying put” this would
be it. As a result of these tough economic times, staycations are
on the rise and many singles, couples and families will be
retreating at home come July 4th weekend. The stay-at-home vacation
does require some preparation. Here are some do’s and don'ts to
consider before taking the time off.

well B you are right, I was only giving a few suggestions to maybe help the girl. Never did I say it would actually work. I don't worry about being to social with any one and I never have, but for those who prefer to be, I just thought that maybe those ideas would help, ya know. And I hope for you that you are only hurting yourself by trying to dodge the pain. Find something else that involves others maybe a class or something where you are all there for the same reasons. my modo is

I will read a book of encouragement and enjoy nature, even the clouds look nice they traveling slow and all in out of order. Enjoy the time you have alone sometimes we all need a break. Since I will be solo on the 4th, my day has been planned as follows:
make breakfast, do a little light housekeeping. At noon I'm in the gym
for an hour workout session. May browse a bookstore read for awhile.
At 3pm I'll have my in'house picnic with ribs and potato salad I prepared on friday. In the evening I'll take a drive locally to see where the fireworks displays are. If I find one, I'm going to watch it
at a distance since I won't have a ticket.
Rounding out the evening will be coffe at Starbuck's. Good luck, you'll think of something.
