- How to slice, quarter, dice and mince an onion without crying.
- How to clean the oven after you have exploded dinner in it.
- Have an excellent chocolate chip cookie recipe.
- Ask your mother and grandmother for their favorite recipes and know how to make them so you can pass them on to your kids.
- Know how to make at least one great salad dressing from scratch
- How to make tomato sauce from scratch (especially if you are Italian!)
- Know how to make your husbands favorite meal (you never know when you’ll have to use that one!)
- Have the ability to have people over for cocktails and serve them something to eat that wasn’t frozen at one point.
- Be able to identify at least 5 different mushrooms and know how to use them.
- Be able to identify at least 5 different cheeses and how to use them. (American doesn’t count)
- Know how to make a breakfast besides cereal.
- Know how to prepare and make eggplant.
- What kind food goes with red and white wines.
- How to properly cook an egg.
- Bake a cake from scratch (we’re 29, boxes are so over!)
- Make soup from scratch
- Learn to identify and cook 5 vegetables you have never heard of.
- Learn to make ethnic food so you are not always ordering take-out
- Have a fabulous dish you can bring to any pot luck
- How to throw a baby or bridal shower (chances are you have or are about to start throwing these)
- How to set a place setting
- What to do with leftover wine.
- Have a signature cocktail
- What to have in your pantry at all times
- How to plant and use fresh herbs
- How to create a beautiful table
- How to plate your food like a professional
- How to be a gracious guest
- The proper usage of each knife
