Today, I went to drop off lunch at one of my best friend's job.
She works at a day care and I enjoyed going because I got to
converse with the children and I love seeing their little curious
minds at work. However, today was a very particular day, because I
got to see the kids during nap time. I thought it was the most
beauiful thing ever. I guess, because I really want kids of my own
one day. I'll just add that I'm 21 years old, realize
i'm not at age to have a baby and I need to further my
knowledge in the care for a baby, which takes me to the reason
I'm wirtting this today.
When I was talking to my best friend, I saw a little girl peek up
from behind a table and duck. I made a playful comment to my best
friend and her responds has me completely weirded out. She said
"Oh, she's masturbating." She only 3-4 years old. She
told me it was normal for kids. I did some research on the internet
about this and I came to find out that there are kids who sometimes
masturbate so vigorously that they make themselves bleed.
It just so hard for me to accept this concept. I can say i'm
disappointed to hear this news. I wonder what else there is out
there I don't know.

Report AbuseI don't fully agree with this. I too worked at a pre-school, as well took some units on child development and from my experience and what I've researched, this is also how some children act out, that are being sexually molested.
While it is natural for a child to "be aware" of their little parts, it isn't natural for them to act out in this way on a regular basis.

Report Abuseyou may want to ask you friend if she has told the mom or dad about it. as stated above it is a sign of a child being molested. its more natural for a little boy to touch their parts because they stick out. but a little girl not so much, girls have to be shown how to do it or have it done to them most of time for them to play with themselves. another question to as your friend is whether this little girl tpuches other children down there.
