align="left" height="292" width="182">As it is every 8 years, it
was both an olympic & political year, but
this one was filled with more lows than highs. First gas
prices skyrocketed, then everything went up with it. Now we are in
an economic state that rivals the great depression. But 2008
wasn't all that bad. It was a historic year--America has
finally elected a non-white male president! An African
American, Barack Obama, is now the president
elect of the United States of America. A moment many thought they
would never see.<br>Yes 2008 is bringing a lot of changes
with it. Television as we knew it is about to do a 180. A
lot of scripted shows are being canceled for cheaper reality and
variety shows, major part in thanks to Jay Leno, sending more
people heading straight the unemployment
lines.<br>We saw low key marriages and high profile divorces,
with Jay Z putting a ring on Beyonce's finger and Madonna
& Guy Ritchie calling it caputs.<br>But
really who had the best year ever in 2008?<br>I know and I
got them all here for
ya!<br><br><br><br>Here are the
top 11 thru
20:<br><br><br><br><br>20. Michael
Phelps<br>Not only is he the record breaking athlete of
all-time, he's also THE most over-exposed athlete of 2008.
He won a total of 8 Olympic gold medals, which is more
than any other athlete in Olympic history, and he made sure to milk
every cent out of it, which is what any smart person would have
done, with endorsements all over the place.<br>Resolution for
2009: Use all that money to buy your own country and host your own
Olympics Michael Phelps style?<br><br><img

align="left" height="273" width="224">19. The Cast of
'Sex & The City'<br>Female power
reigned for a minute with the return of four of the most fun,
fearless and eternally fabulous females ever (say that 5 times
fast). Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte all hit the big
screen with one of the most anticipated films of 2008. The rumor
mill had been going wild: will they make a movie or won't
they. We heard that Kim Cattrall just was not onboard and finally
she relented and we got to revisit the fab four all over again. But
will they return or was it just a one-night
stand?<br>Resolution for 2009: Get to work on a super script
for another Sex & the City
flick?<br><br></p> <p>18. Elizabeth
Banks<img style="width:174px;height:219px;" alt=""
src="http://a323.yahoofs.com/phugc/B7S0SvGQOhRe/photos/d12faeed88ce76310dbda6501a229a8d/mr_ddd9771fc8fe51.jpg?ug_____DQFhgTNCN"
align="right" height="219" width="174"><br>She's
got all the qualities of a movie star--looks and talent--but
Elizabeth Banks hasn't been able to take her career to the
next level. She isn't a movie star yet but she was in just
about every movie at one point in 2008. Which makes me wonder--did
Elizabeth Banks clone herself in 2008?<br>Resolution for
2009: Blow them away in 2009--look for a role that screams
OSCAR?!<br></p> <p><img
style="width:183px;height:254px;" alt=""

align="left" height="254" width="183">17. Katy Perry</p>
<p>She kissed a girl, although I'm not sure I ever
saw it, but she is definitely glad she did because there
she was having the best year ever! Katy Perry went from an unknown
to a headliner thanks to her monster hit single 'I Kissed A
Girl'. And she won't be a one hit wonder thanks to
other successful songs she also released in 2008. But was she only
a tag word for 2008 or is there more to come for the overnight
success?<br>Resolution for 2009: Evolve girl! And Quick!! How
about kissing a goat this
time?<br><br><br><br>16. Madonna<img
style="width:201px;height:178px;" alt=""
src="http://a323.yahoofs.com/phugc/OyyXKwiBnlMg/photos/4e22900d1f6ccdeecd049ade5ce83a95/mr_ddd90873c8382f.jpg?ug_____Dlz7mDvRC"
align="right" height="178" width="201"><br>Madonna has had
a lot of good years, bad years and so-so years but this year she
proved to everyone that age is nothing but an excuse to get senior
citizen's discount. The Queen of Pop turned 50 in
'08 and she's rocking it like it's still
1985. A Madonna concert ticket was a must have in 2008. Her
concerts became red carpet events as celebrities turned out to see
Madge rock it with Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears. But it
wasn't all fun and games for Madonna. She had the most high
profile divorce and romance in 2008. So is Ms. Ciccone about to hit
another one out of the ball park (yeah I meant
that)?<br>Resolution for 2009: Sleep? No, forget the question
mark--SLEEP!<br><br><br><img
style="width:156px;height:237px;" alt=""

align="left" height="237" width="156">15. Kim
Kardashian<br>Paris Hilton has a new face,
new ASSets and a new name and it's Kim Kardashian.
It's the party girl of 2008, Paris meets J.Lo--Kim
Kardashian! She has replaced her former BFF Paris
Hilton as THE celebrity famous for being famous
with no talent to offer and she also comes with
her own sex tape. But really, is she all that interesting? Or is it
that there's something around the corner waiting to greet
us for all this wasted attention? Hope she manages to keep us
watching until then.<br>Resolution for 2009: Be famous for
something perhaps?<br><br>14. Brad Pitt<img
style="width:243px;height:312px;" alt=""
src="http://a323.yahoofs.com/phugc/p0XzFQrrM2iq/photos/018cfc279a8c2b4786bca74ecedd5e2f/mr_6b921cc2e76e2a.jpg?ug_____DS.7IczHg"
align="right" height="312" width="243"><br>He puts the
heart in heart throb. Brad Pitt has shown us all that not all roses
have thorns and that mortifyingly pretty people can actually put
themselves in regular people's shoes. Brad has fulfilled
his promise to build houses for victims of Katrina with people
slowing moving in as I write this. He also had twins with his girl
wonder--Angelina Jolie, and he left 2008 with rave reviews for his
performance in the movie 'The Curious Case of Benjamin
Button'. Although he lost the box office race to his
ex-wife, Jennifer Aniston, he came out a winner with Golden Globe
nominations and continued box office success.<br>Resolution
for 2009: Turning your family into the effective version of the
UN?<br><br>13. Oprah Winfrey<br>Yeah, yeah, yeah,
so what her weight has more ups and downs than the Kingdika. The
Queen of media has enough $100 bills to blow her nose into, and it
will probably be worth more than that after she blows into it
anyway (thanks for revealing this Scarlett Johansen).
Oprah was most certainly having a wonderful year. No one
was rooting more for Barack Obama than Super Winfrey and now that
it's all been successful, and she has been a force behind
history, it's safe to say that it's a year that
Oprah will never forget.<br>Resolution for 2009: Just keep it
going!<br><br><br>12. Jennifer Aniston<img
style="width:219px;height:271px;" alt=""
src="http://a323.yahoofs.com/phugc/OyyXKwiBnlMg/photos/b7b8b4d5c892bdc558a36f2cedebb9a5/mr_757755188846dc.jpg?ug_____DK9KQ61Ip"
align="right" height="271" width="219"><br>She is THE most
famous 'Friend' and America's new
sweetheart, joining the likes of Julia Roberts and Sandra Bullock.
Her love life competes with her movies for having the most plots
and twists but Jennifer Aniston hasn't allowed all the
scrutiny to distract her from keeping her career on track. She
ended the year with the no.1 movie in theaters, every dog
lover's delight--'Marley & Me',
alongside Owen Wilson. She was 2008's cover girl and most
wanted interview. We all want to know what she really thinks about
Angelina Jolie, but after seeing those magazine photos, she can
count herself as one lucky lady. <br>Resolution for 2009:
Find a wonderful guy who deserves all of
that!<br><br><br><br><br><img
style="width:200px;height:229px;" alt=""
src="http://a323.yahoofs.com/phugc/OyyXKwiBnlMg/photos/c098f69efa0b6809038c32af524c7648/mr_6866520ec8751e.jpg?ug_____DXk8uFX15"
align="left" height="229" width="200">11. Rihanna<br>2007
may have been a monster year for Pop's newest princess, but
she is keeping it coming and not wasting a second. This year she
continued to top the charts with the re-launching of the album that
made her a star--'Good Girl Gone Bad', with the
addition of new chart-topping songs. But what has really put her so
high on this list is her amazing sense of style. No one has pushed
trends around and made them young and fun again the way Rihanna has
since Madonna in her heydays. She plays with fashion and she makes
it look all so organically her. She is always a hit on the red
carpet and a treat on stage. Rihanna has star quality all right as
she has proven to us in 2008.<br>Resolution for 2009:
Don't even think of taking a break!</p>
