We have got to protect our children!!!!!!! sex offenders, kidnappers...ect

I lay awake at night thinking of all the missing children and children that have passed and have been hurt but found. Its all the cowards in the world that do this kind of stuff and they might even seem like normal people. My heart goes out to these families and prayers. It's up to us to stop being small minded and thinking that this can't happen to my child or it wont happen where I live. Because it does... Everyday. Walking to and from school, to and from a friends, at the park, in public resturaunts, and at stores, it happens anywhere. Moms and dads we need to take a stand to talk to our children as much as we can about not talking to strangers, knowing how to dial 911, to never trust anyone they do not know. And sadly this may not be enough. I find myself saying well what do you do? It's sad but this is the world we live in now so dont let your child out of your site. Not even to go outside and play... and make sure the friends of your childs parents believe this to. Speak out about it to your childs teachers, your church, your babysitter, anyone in your family. Most of all not only look out for your children but watch out for other ones too. When you see the little girl or boy from down the road riding his or her bike, make note of what he or she is wearing maybe a shirt or something and if you can even remember the time. You never know it could be helpful information if needed.

We take walks a lot and live in a neighborhood full of children, in the mornings I roll out my blinds and while I play on the computer I often glance out at the children waiting for the bus just to make sure they are safe. I know I can't do much if something happens but I guess I'd hope someone would do this for my son and maybe it could help just in case. I'm not crazy about it and all... I just think we should be aware of everything. Just like we should always watch our surroundings, or how we leave a light on. It's just common sense people.

Audrey, I didn't realize how many children were missing until my daughter ran away! It is a horrible feeling no knowing where she could be and what had happened to her! She had no clothes and left without notice. I was hurt and devasted by her leaving. Although, we found her and pregnant. I was even more hurt! But due to the laws it's so much harder to protect your children! Without evidence and without support it has been a frustrating battle!

My daughter was 16, law doesn't consider her a runaway at 17. She left the state and still no charges! The so called father is 24 YRS OLD! Since she is NOW 17 law will not press charges on him because she consented! No matter if she had sex with him at the age of 16...the law will not touch it because She will protect his sorry but!

We as parents can still look out for children. I look at pictures on the wall at Wal-Mart, in hopes that I will find a lost child. I look at the the little pictures that they send in the mail and I look on a web site called NCMEC. National Center of Missing and Exploited Children. There are so many websites that help parents and some even email you when there is an Amber Alert in your area! Look it up and thanks for always looking out!

Children are precious and I will protect any child and treat them like my own. Its really heart warming to know that there are people out there that feel and do the same as I do.
