You know how they say some girls dream about their weddings their whole life? Well, that was never me, but I do know some guys who have been dreaming about their bachelor party since they first discovered a certain magazine under their big brother’s mattress!
Everyone knows that the bachelor party can be a source of tension between the bride and groom, but frequently it’s a source of tension between the groom and his groomsmen as well.
A lot of grooms just want to go out for a good steak, maybe hit some clubs, maybe even a strip club. Unfortunately, they find that their best man sees the bachelor party as a time-honored way not to give the groom the time of his life, but to embarrass the hell out of him, and possibly stir up a little trouble with his bride. The next thing he knows, he's in someone's basement with a stripper tying him up, putting makeup on him and taking photographs!
I’ve heard many stories from guys who found themselves in uncomfortable situations at their own parties. Think about this, even if you want to watch a stripper, do you want to watch her with your new father-in-law? Do you want to get a lap dance in front of your co-workers? What if you’ve promised your bride that you won’t get a lap dance and your friends keep buying them for you?
One possible solution to keeping the bachelor party under control is to use a site like OneWed’s Wedding Pre-Party. The parties application lets the Best Man (or Maid of Honor, or other helpful guest) plan parties, solicit opinions, issue invitations, and hunt down those people who refuse to commit to an RSVP.
What do you think? Do men actually like bachelor parties? Should a groom try and control what’s planned for him? Should his bride object to strippers and lap dances?
