Here are some other movies which offer some different perspectives:

    Family Man

    Home for the Holidays

    The Snowman (animated)

    Planes, Trains and Automobiles

    The Family Stone

Groundhog Day (alright, it's after New Years, but still a holiday)

    Scrooged

"A Christmas Story" should replace Gremlins in that list.

My personal favorite is Love, Actually! It's a movie set around Christmas, not a "Christmas" movie specifically, but it makes me happier than pretty much any other holiday flick!

My new favorite Christmas movie is The Christmas Card with John Newton, Alice Evans, Ed Asner and Lois Nettleton. It is only a couple of years old, but I love watching it. It takes me away from the cares of the world and is a beautiful love story.
