Report AbuseCynthia: I TOTALLY understand. I lost my beloved Welsh Corgi, Ellie two year's ago to lymphoma. I had her for seven years while I was single and she was my best friend and loyal companion. She moved cross country with me and was such a trouper. She was such an amazing dog. Never had any issues with her disposition or temperment. Everyone that met her loved her. I miss you, my little "Ellie bean". :-(

Report Abusei lost a dog years ago and it can still bring tears to my eyes. my husband's pugg mix is getting old, she is now 12, he has had her all his life, at one point she was his everything. Everyday here recently he says " penny isnt doing good". she doesnt want to get off the couch, hardly poops, gaining lots of weight.. he knows she is going to go soon, and i know he is not going to handle it well. Im more worried about him than her at this point, i know its going to crush him. i dont know what to do for him..

Report AbuseAll of us who love our companions feel for you and your loss.
when you are ready, please consider pet finder.com-put in the breed and age and your zip code, and see if there may be another little guy who needs your love as much as you need theirs. We brought home an abandoned shelter pup, and I am not sure who needs who more-it's been a healing experience for the whole family. With the bad economy, many people have had to give up thier beloved, well behaved pets. The nice thing about seeing them on-line was I did not have to walk away from thier pleading eyes. It made the process easier, and less pressured. They also give you backround etc.. Again, I am sorry for the loss of your friend, just remember, you will be together again someday, he's waiting patiently..I lost my Beau after 18 years, and I will never forget him, I just tried to open my heart again, and I am glad I did.

Report AbuseWe lost our cocker spaniel Alice a week ago. She was only 6 years old. Somehow, maybe jumping out of the car,she hurt her spine and the paralysis started with her back legs and moved through her body. I share your pain and wasn't sure I'd be able to love another dog. But I think that's a gift dogs give us, they love so much and without conditions. In return we have so much love to give back. I hadn't planned on bringing another dog home so soon but there was a pound puppy who needed to be loved and we brought her home. This little girl represents every dog we raised and loved, so she's in a continuing line. When it comes time and you're ready to bring a new friend home, please check the shelters and the dog pound. There's someone there waiting for you.

Report AbuseHi, I know how you feel. Animals have always been a huge part of my life.
We had a cat that lived to be 21 years old. When she died, it killed me, she'd been there since I was 11 and died when I was 32....
Earlier this year, one of my cats, 14 years old, passed away, the same day, we learned that our beloved bulldog had cancer of the mouth, and that he had little time left. He died two months later... and only 3 days later, my Mom's cat, also considered mine, because she was a family cat, she was 18 years old.... also died.
So, three pets, within the course of 2 months...
I was heartbroken for a very long time. And I still cannot think of them without crying.
I am very sorry for your loss. It hurts so much to lose a pet, because they give such pure and unconditional love, they are truly God's gift to us.

Report AbuseI had a greyhound. My husband got him from a rescue agency for our anniversary. He died of hematoma/brain tumor from the use of steroids...He was my best friend, walking companion, protector, and so lovable...I was devastated. We got another dog right away, not a good idea, but at the time the loss was so great we though filling it would be a faster healing for me and the kids. It wasn't for me. I have never connected with this dog, and miss bst friend still this day. It has been 11 years. Sometimes replacement is good, other times not. I recomend waiting til it feels right. Who knows you may be out and about needing a friend and a little stray could be looking for one too....

Report AbuseI lost my 17-year old cat to cancer 5 years ago and 2 years ago I lost the other "Love of my Life" Pixie, a Papillon Chihauau mix. I now have another cat and I volunteer at the SPCA here in Sacramento. It's the best decision I have ever made. Animals don't judge you like people do and they stay your friend until the day they leave us. God bless all the babies..............
