Last year I painted my deceased
grandmother as a gift for my grandmother's daughter, my mother.
While I was painting, I kept thinking what a remarkable woman my
grandmother was; remembering the old fashioned traditional values
she imparted, by her example. I would guess that she was… Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (828) | Blog

Growing up, laundry lines
hanging in backyards were a common site. We'd hang our sheets
on ours, and I remember throwing a big blanket over it more than a
few times to make a "tent" for backyard camping. But when
my husband hung some sheets and other items outside on a line soon
after… Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (44) | Blog

According to the commercial breaks and the stores, the Holiday season is upon us in near full swing. The only thing missing so far (at least in our house) is Santa pulling in at the end of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, then to us it's in full swing. Anyway, last night I was walking…

There’s so much not to like about Sarah Palin … why do I find myself admiring her?
- April Daniels Hussar, BettyConfidential.com
Like many people outside of Alaska, the first I heard of Sarah Palin was back in August 2008, when John McCain announced her as his running mate. My first reaction: Smooth move, John. We wanted a woman in the Oval Office, now you might be giving us one. My second reaction: How sexist and condescending can you get. We can’t have Hillary, so any old female will do? And my third: Dear Lord, please don’t let this woman end up in the White House. So here’s my confession: I was – and still am – an ardent Obama supporter. Politically speaking I’d say Sarah Palin and I are just about polar opposites. (You say, “Drill baby;” I say, “No blood for oil.”) I shudder to imagine her holding a national political office. But, the thing is, well … see, it’s like this … I kind of like her too.

Is that rain, or the tears of thousands of publishers, TV executives, and celebrities plotting their public rehabilitation pouring down?
AP: Oprah Winfrey at the start of her extraordinary career
It's official: Oprah Winfrey will pull the plug on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" in 2011 after 25 seasons on the air. Rumored for what seems like forever, likely feared for longer by CBS Television Distribution, which distributes the show to more than 200 U.S. TV markets, the shuttering of the heart of Oprah's media empire is nigh. Watched Hannity interview as well as others. Look forward to O'Reillys. She cleared up alot of the spin said about her, but what really opened my ears was when she said her Father said: " She's not retreating, She's reloading." What better person to know that. Then I realized,… Read More »
