Let's get real, this hairstyle has
been around forever— I think my sister wore a similar updo to her
prom in '98, so it's practically vintage. Though, with a
few small tweaks, a wrapped ponytail can look super modern. Like
with this one: the low ponytail suddenly feels elegant thanks… Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (0) | Blog

Breaking beauty news: Hayden Panettiere has bangs! Check out the before and after shots of her and weigh in -- do you love her new look or was the change a bad move?
Most of the time, my love of bangs knows no bounds -- everything from these side-swept beauties to full-on fringe like these celebs is a "do" in my book. But on Hayden, I'm indecisive. I think they're cute, but I also think they make her look a bit old (the makeup could have something to do with it too, maybe she should check out these tips to keep her makeup from aging her).
What's your verdict, should she keep the bangs or pin them back (like in this video) until they grow out?

It seems like every
generation has an "It" hairstyle that women run to their
stylists trying to achieve. In the '70s it was Farrah
Fawcett's feathered disco look. In the '90s, Jennifer
Aniston popularized the "Rachel," a bouncy shag worn by
the character she played on… Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (13) | Blog

No, this is not a story devoted to Lady Gaga (although she certainly is worthy of a mention). Plenty of celebrities have sported some way out-there hairdos. Now I'm all for risk-taking, I've been sporting this crazy 'do as of late, but some of these looks are so bizarre that you have to wonder what the heck they were thinking.
Check out a few of my favorites below, and see the full line-up here.

Short, long, blonde, bangs? We’re not
saying that hair makes a woman, but we’ll confess: We are a helluva
lot happier on a good hair day. A fresh cut,
the perfect hair color, the right updo and we’re gleaming from… Read More »- Let’s talk: Comment (6) | Blog

Earlier today, we were pondering a profound (at least, I like to think it was) question: How important is it to practice what you preach? By this, I mean, do you care if the person giving you hair advice is bald? Or the makeup tips you're getting are coming from someone who, frankly, looks a bit disheveled?I think it, obviously, depends on the situation. I know plenty of bald hairdressers whom I would still listen to because they spend their lives styling other people's hair. On the other hand, there are quite a few YouTube videos out there where women are giving decent advice (check out our faves here), but often they look like they just rolled out of bed or worse.
What do you think? Will you listen to a potentially good makeup tip no matter what state the person giving it is in? Or do you find beauty advice from un-put-together people a bit sketchy?

Whether you're a salon snob or a die-hard bargain hunter, you'll love this list of the top drugstore hairstyling products. No, it's not a fancy softball pitch; "the lob" is actually a term for a long bob (a.k.a., a shoulder-length bob, or what happens when you try last season's trendy bob and let it grow out for a couple months).According to Pantene celebrity hairstylist Hallie Bowman, the lob is the hair cut for fall. And if you were one of the many, many people to try out the Posh-bob (or Pob, the fun names never stop people!) then you probably already have it.
Didn't succumb to the last uber-trendy cut? Well, you might want to cave in for the lob. Bowman says it's flattering on just about everyone and it's so versatile -- you can wear it straight, curly, wavy, flipped out, up, down, pretty much any way you could think of.
Check out these lob-style how-tos below for some guidance. I don't know about you but I think there's a date with the scissors in my future (I was one of the very few who didn't go down the Pob road).
